Family and Upbringing:
Arete was born to the wealthy Tzavaras family of Bael Turath. Well known for their ownership of vast plantations, the Tzavaras family lived in comfort outside of the crowded city. Most of her childhood was spent at the plantation “Undecimus Tzavaras” where her parents held lavish parties every weekend whose guest list included some of the most influential members of Bael Turath’s society.
On the verge of her 15th birthday, Arete was approached by the
head priest of Bane’s cathedral at her parents’ party. After a nightlong conversation of the deity, Arete became his newest acolyte.
Arete is disgusted at her family: a house long established in political and social stature which has recently (over the last 40 years) coasted on the previous generations’ wealth, growing fat, materialistic and losing favor as one of Bael Turath’s elite families. Arete wishes to bring the grand reputation back to her house by enlisting under General Sextus Zolfura. In her lifetime, Arete wants to restore the name Tzavaras to its former glory and she intends to become the new figurehead—not these pompous politicians and gossip mongers.
