Bio:

The Past

Gaius Valerius was born of Marcus Valerius, a Human Senator of little fame or import, and Gaia Valeria Tyrania, a Tiefling noblewoman of a long and prestigious family line, the Gens Valerii. Raised as a nobleman, he joined the military at a young age to establish himself in the world of Turathi politics.

While Gaius returned from a two year deployment with the Turathi Legion, he discovered terrible events had occurred in his absence: hIs father had been brutally murdered! Worse yet, the murderer was his own mother! With the death of the Senator, Gaia Valeria had assumed control of the seat of power within the Gens Valerii and began establishing herself within the Turathi government. Gaius, appalled at what he found, could not make sense of it. Faced with the gruesome circumstance of avenging his father by murdering his mother, Gaius chose instead to flee; in his mind, choosing nothing was a far better solution than walking the path of blood and murder.

Haunted by the acts of his wicked mother and worried about the possible consequences of it all, Gaius went far out to the front, enlisting himself to the aid of a respected Legate (general) in the battle against the barbaric empire of Arkhosia.

The Quest

On the front, Gaius quickly found himself in the service of General Sextus Zolfura. There, he found himself caught up in border skirmishes that, although seemingly random, slowly began coalescing into a pattern more sinister in nature. On a routine scouting mission, Gaius and his companions came upon a ferocious white dragon. Here, first clues of the sinister Arkhosian plot became apparent; Gaius overheard an Arkhosian agent, Vrak Tiburkaern, conspiring with the beast. A fierce battle ended with the defeat of the dragon but the Arkhosian spy was able to escape, denying Gaius and his friends a chance to learn more about what was going on.

The Fall

Arriving at Khaz Yashwe after the Turathi military liberated it from the control of fiendish Arkhosians, Gaius became involved in the search for the missing Turathi diplomats. Working his his friends and comrades, they searched the city in an effort to discover where the monstrous allies of Arkhosia had secreted the ambassadors. Eventually, the group discovered where a cult of Arkohsian sympathizers kept the prisoners; they put together a plan to raid the building and rescue the diplomatic party.

As the violence began, the dastardly Dwarven cultist breathed foul poison all over Gaius. Quickly, the poison took a hold of his body as he struggled to fight off the cultists around him. Unfortunately, as the Dwarven wizard focused his vile magics on Gaius, the poison became too great for his body to handle. Only moments after the battle started, Gaius fell to the ground, overcome.

When the battle ended, the party had been overcome with a sense of urgency; the ambassador surviving members of the ambassadorial party informed them of rumors and plots that they hand heard while kept prisoner. Making a hasty decision, the group quickly withdrew back to the base camp; when they came back to recover further clues and Gaius’ body, nothing was found. All they had been able to recover from Gaius was the mysterious pendant that he had been wearing when he died…
