Educated at the prestigious Black Academy, Sidus always wanted to gain social esteem and power. The dark arts seemed to be a great avenue for that power after learning arcane channeling at the Academy. Sidus was approached by a group of ambitious astrologers, and seeing social networking opportunities with many powerful and influential people, he joined the heretical Religious Society of Zalgo, He Who Approaches.
While Sidus was never very devout (taking the religious ideals of Asmodeanism at face value and leaving the rest), he gained many contacts of both high and ill repute here, and no one really worshiped the abstract psuedo-diety Zalgo, did they? Assuring himself that it was all hocus-pocus and ritual for ritual’s sake, and that no one in their right minds would really sacrifice to an Elder God, Sidus learned more focused dark arts with the Society and took the initiation rituals to be able to channel Zalgo’s power directly through his body.
Not able to completely assure himself of the non-existence of Zalgo anymore, and escaping the mad cultists’ ever growing obsession with He Who Approaches, Sidus used what dwarven he learned at the Black Academy and his higher contacts to attach himself to an ambassadorial crew sent to the newly liberated Dwarven lands. But if the Society ever catches up with him…
